IPv6 Address Management
IPv6 Address Management
There are lots of reasons why IPv6 management softwares are different and much greater than those for the IPv4 networks. First, networks will be running in a more complicated way in the future as they will run IPv4, side-by-side with IPv6 for the transition. Another is, IPv6 addresses are longer and more difficult to store in network management applications.
Here's a small trivia to give you an idea about proper IPv6 address management. As a IPv6 network manager, you'll be needing IPv6-enabled management tools for the following: DNS, address management, traffic generation, traffic analysis, troubleshooting and application-performance monitoring when dealing with IPv6.
Now the biggest question, where can this management software be found? Sad to say but "complete" network management applications for IPv6 are still in the development phase. Yes, there are IPV6 management softwares already available in the market but these are, needless to say, a bit incomplete as of the moment. You will be needing to update them with some other "value-added features" when the time comes.
IPv6 is a great internet protocol version, it only appears to be hard to manage because it's still in its transition phase and we're not yet properly introduced to its full capabilities. Just wait until this transition is finished and see how powerful this Internet Protocol version really is.
